A 44-year-old man has died at Lake Huron’s Ipperwash Beach after plunging from a boat into shallow water. According to the police, this is the second death in a couple of days at the beach.
An unresponsive person was discovered on the beach when Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report in the community of Lambton Shores at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Sunday. The subject was taken to shore by someone else, according to the police, and was later declared dead in the hospital.
This is the second death at Ipperwash Beach, located west of London, Ontario.
An 18-year-old swimmer from London, Ontario, passed away on the beach on Monday, according to OPP. The teenager allegedly plunged into the water in an attempt to save his 12-year-old brother, who was struggling in the water. According to law enforcement, the teen was pronounced dead after accidentally drowning, The incident happened during a hangout with his peers.
The 44-year-old’s death is still being investigated, according to Lambton County OPP, who urge anyone with information to get in touch with the police.
