A Timberville man is dead and another hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on North Valley Pike, according to the Virginia State Police (VSP).
The crash occurred when an Infiniti Q50 sedan, traveling northbound, crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound Hyundai Tucson SUV. The force of the impact caused the Tucson to veer off the right side of the road.
Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were transported to a hospital. The driver of the Hyundai Tucson, 30-year-old Damian A. Siever of Timberville, later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities confirmed that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Infiniti, 28-year-old David J. Siever, also of Timberville, survived the crash and remains hospitalized. VSP noted that he was wearing a seatbelt during the collision.
Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the crash, though fatigue is being considered a contributing factor, VSP said.
